Handmade Monoprint

Tittle: Broken glass

Monoprint on Stonehenge paper

Dimension: 3 x 6 feet

The artist inspired by classic stain glass art to paint this outstanding abstract painting on Stonehenge paper which is called monoprint. Monoprint is a printmaking technique but the big deference is that the artist paint it on a nonporous surface then transfer it onto a specific paper, therefore unlike the other printmaking techniques, in monoprint technique there is only one edition of each. This is done all by hands using ink and acrylics paint. This large piece has been exhibited in the United States

Artist Statement:

My works are combination of painting, monoprint and ceramics. I am fascinated by these three fields in art, and I have focused on finding a way to utilize each one in such a way that my artworks speak to each other significantly.
Forms and unity play a great role in my artworks. As a Persian I am highly influenced by my native culture, and draw upon this to create my abstract forms inspired by the beautiful shapes of Persian calligraphy, which are full of erotic motions, flow and curves. In order to create spontaneously these erotic forms, I need to dance with clay. As if through flirting and making love to it for hours at the end the forms are born from this interaction!
Merging my rich, ancient culture and tradition with modernity and abstraction gives me a pleasant challenge. Aside from Persian calligraphy, I also generously integrate other Persian elements into my artworks such as patterns, symbols, motifs and specific colors.
Beauty, uniqueness, creativity, and spontaneity; are all essential factors in my art. Using the various techniques and skills I have acquired, boost my thirst for learning. I believe art is a mixture of knowledge, various sciences, skills, passion, creativity, originality, technique, beauty, meaningfulness and messages.
